The Hampton Roads-based league debuts in 2026 with 12 local artists, a $10K cash prize, and a pathway to the national SvS Draft.
Hampton Roads, VA: MPSL Founder and Commissioner, Juan A. Thompson, has officially announced the launch of the Seven Cities Series (SCS) as an official divisional league of the Song vs Song (SvS) Sports League, set to debut in 2026. The SCS will serve as the first regional division of the growing Music-Performance Sports League (MPSL), transforming the Hampton Roads area into the official home of competitive music-performance sports.
The inaugural SCS season will feature 12 independent artists from the Hampton Roads region, who will compete in four games leading up to the SCS Championship, where one artist will be crowned the region’s best.
Annually, the SCS Champion will receive:
The official ScS Championship Belt
$10,000 cash prize
An MPSL Single Release Deal
Recognition as the #1-ranked independent artist in Hampton Roads
Additionally, the SCS Champion will earn an honorary draft position in that year’s national SvS Draft, providing a direct opportunity to represent Hampton Roads on the national stage in the Song vs Song Sports League.
“The Seven Cities Series is a celebration of where it all began,” said Commissioner Thompson. “Hampton Roads is the birthplace of Music-Performance Sports, so it only makes sense that it continues to lead the evolution of this movement. The ScS will serve as the model for how local artists can compete, grow, and reach the national stage.”
The Seven Cities Series will serve as the prototype for future regional divisional leagues, which will be adopted nationally in regions where SvS teams reside. Each division will showcase local talent while creating a competitive pipeline to the national SvS League—bridging the gap between community-level artistry and professional music-performance competition.
“From the start, our goal has been to merge the culture of music with the structure and excitement of sports,” added Thompson. “ScS is the foundation for how we build that system across the country.”
The SCS will officially kick off in 2026, with registration, schedule, and venue details to be announced in early spring.
