The Song vs Song Sports League introduces a Competitive Pathway from National Rankings to the pro league

Hampton Roads, Virginia - Music-Performance Sports (MPS) has officially announced the launch of its groundbreaking competitive music platform, the Song vs Song Sports League (SvS), introducing a first-of-its-kind national ranking system designed specifically for independent artists.

The new system establishes a structured competitive pathway where artists can compete online in divisional games, earn official national rankings, and advance toward the SvS pro level team-based league.

At the center of the system is the SvS-US Championship, the premier national ranking tournament of Music-Performance Sports.

Each October, 64 independent artists will be selected to compete in the SvS-US Championship in January through a combination of qualifying games and open submissions. Based on SvS-US results, the official MPS-US Top 32 Rankings will be determined, recognizing the nation’s elite independent artists.

“These rankings are designed to give independent artists legitimate competitive recognition,” said Juan Thompson, Founder and CEO of Music-Performance Sports. “We’re creating a system where artists can build rankings, stats, competitive history, and visibility similar to how traditional athletes rise from the amateurs to the pros.”

The Song vs Song Sports League currently includes three divisional qualifying games:

  • eMICS

  • The League

  • SvS-US Championship

The competitive structure is designed to identify talent and create opportunities for artists to advance into the professional level of the sport.

The eMICS allows artists to compete in four online Heats during June, while, in August, The League features conference-based competition between East and West divisions. Winners from these events earn automatic bids to the SvS-US Championship 64-player roster.

Artists may also enter through Open Submissions held annually from September 1–30.

Open Submissions requires a one-time $200 Committee Evaluation Fee.

Artists who participated in eMICS or The League receive a 20% discount.

Artists who win eMICS or The League automatically join the SvS-US roster.

The SvS-US Champion will receive:

  • $10,000 cash prize

  • Official SvS-US Championship Belt

  • #1 national ranking in the MPS-US Top 32

  • Automatic bid into the SvS Team Draft

  • Official “MPS Certified Nationally Ranked Independent Artist” watermarked digital badge

  • Official Commissioner Authorization Letter certifying authenticity and ranking status

  • An official SvS-US Champion Digital Trading Card

All 32 nationally ranked artists will receive:

  • An official “MPS Certified Nationally Ranked Independent Artist” digital badge (digital badge is watermarked for authenticity)

  • Official authentication documentation from the Commissioner

  • A featured Top 32 artist profile on the MPS website

  • Public national ranking recognition

  • Exposure for opportunities through MPS’s network of labels, radio/club DJs, managers, promoters, and entertainment executives seeking talent

  • Automatic bid into the upcoming SvS Team Draft (November 2027)

Beginning in November 2027, qualifying artists will become eligible for the official SvS Team Draft, where artists are drafted to teams to compete in the Song vs Song Sports League pro division season.
