Newport News, VA — The Music-Performance Sports League (MPSL) officially kicked off its 2025 regular season with an electrifying Week 1 of Song vs Song (SvS) matchups. Artists from across the country and the globe went head-to-head in the world’s first professional music-performance sports league, delivering high-stakes performances and drawing fan votes and judge scores that determined their standing in the season's opening week.
Week 1 also marked the historic premiere of “SvS: On The Clock”, the league’s official results and recap pilot show, produced in partnership with The Hype Magazine and broadcast on YouTube and Roku. Hosted by Tee Recx and featuring expert judges Mr. Conversation, Brittany Jay, and Murda, the show revealed vote counts, analyzed performances, and set the tone for a thrilling season ahead.

Each matchup’s final score combines public voting (Wednesday–Saturday) and judges' ratings in three critical categories: Lyrics/Delivery, Song Quality, and Radio Readiness.
A New Era in Music Competition
With the debut of “SvS: On The Clock,” fans now have a centralized show to track their favorite players and get exclusive commentary from industry insiders. Week 1 drew thousands of fan votes and marked a defining moment in the evolution of independent music competition.
“This isn’t just a game anymore,” said MPSL Commissioner Juan A. Thompson. “It’s a sport where independent artists are the athletes, and music is their sport.”
