WEEK 3 UPSETS AND PENALTIES SHAKE UP SvS POWER RANKINGS
(Online – Newport News, VA) — Week 3 of the Song vs Song (SvS) Regular Season was nothing short of a shockwave, with three major upsets and new controversy surrounding penalties for non-compliant tracks.
In a standout performance, (10) Sophia Sharee of Atlanta, GA, earned her first league victory in commanding fashion, defeating (6) Michael Marshall of Chicago, IL, 32–23.5. Her confident delivery and clean radio-ready version of the track drew praise from both fans and judges.
Another stunner came as (7) Ask Andy of Sussex, NJ, narrowly dethroned the previously undefeated (1) TCB Domino of LaGrange, GA, 26.9–26.4. The matchup, decided by just half a point, grew more controversial after TCB was issued a 3-point deduction for failing to submit a properly radio-edited track — a new rule being strictly enforced as the league scales its broadcast partnerships.
In another headline result, (9) RBTO of Vito Cruz, Malate, Manila, notched his first win of the season with a gritty and vulnerable performance that edged (5) Keldamuzik of San Francisco, CA, 26.8–24.2.
(2) Best Slim Ever of Lagos State, Nigeria, maintained his undefeated status, overpowering (4) King Sasa of Brooklyn, NY, 27.3–14.2. However, King Sasa was also docked 3 points for a radio edit violation, contributing to the largest margin of defeat this week.
Finally, (3) P The Emcee of Dayton, OH, delivered another high-powered performance to outlast (8) Ladyofsoull of Winston-Salem, NC, 32–27.8. Despite the win, P The Emcee also received a 3-point deduction for an unclean submission, slightly narrowing what would have been a wider victory margin.
