SvS SET TO MAKE HISTORY AS THE FIRST MUSIC-PERFORMANCE SPORTS LEAGUE

In a bold and unprecedented move, Song vs Song (SvS) is set to revolutionize the music industry by launching the world’s first-ever Music-Performance Sports League — a hybrid entertainment platform that fuses the competitive structure of sports with the raw creativity of independent music.

Imagine March Madness meets Verzuz, powered by real-time fan voting and performance scoring. That’s the vision behind SvS — a digital arena where independent artists battle head-to-head with their songs, competing in seasons, games, and championships just like traditional athletes.

A League Like No Other

The SvS League isn't just another music competition — it’s a structured sports league complete with teams, rankings, weekly games, judges, and playoffs. Artists (players) from across the country enter the SvS Draft. From there, 32 artists are drafted onto 8 teams, each competing over a 7-week regular season to clinch a playoff seed, ultimately, leading up the SUPER MIC.

Matches are streamed online with full integration into Spotify/Apple Music, giving fans the chance to discover and vote on new music in real time. Teams follow a regular season schedule where its players are randomly matched up and go head-to-head in timed battles, where scoring comes from both fan votes and official judges.

Changing the Game for Independent Artists

At its core, SvS is about empowering independent artists. It offers a new promotional lane—a dynamic, interactive stage where music isn’t just heard, it’s competed with. Artists not only gain visibility from each match but also earn stats, rankings, and accolades that build careers and fanbases in real time.

“Independent artists deserve a league of their own,” said MPSL Commissioner, Juan A. Thompson. “They train like athletes, they compete for attention like athletes, and now, they’ll finally have a structured sports league that reflects their hustle.”

The Birth of Music-Performance Sports

With SvS leading the charge, the term Music-Performance Sports (MPS) is being coined as a new entertainment category — one that treats music as a competitive sport and positions artists as athletes.

The governing body behind the league, the Music-Performance Sports League (MPSL), plans to expand with future leagues. But it all starts with SvS.

The first-ever SvS Draft is coming soon, and fans will get to follow the journey as 32 elite independent artists are selected and placed into "franchises". From there, it’s game on — a season filled with battles, buzzer-beaters, breakouts, and blowouts, all set to the beat of the next generation of music.

How to Join the Draft

Song submissions are from April 10th - 20th. Only up to 100 submissions will be accepted. First come, first serve. There's a one-time $10 submission fee. The draft is from May 8th -11th. Songs selected in the draft will be voted on by the public.
